Bring everything back up as per the manual. So I uninstalled Cubase and wiped all the settings I fiddled with while troubleshooting. I tried the generic low latency driver, which apparently worked better than ASIO4ALL anyway, and it still plays back super soft regardless of my volume settings. I go to record things as per the Youtube video that I needed to watch before opening Cubase because it errors out when I have ASIO4ALL up, and either Cubase freezes, the keyboard heavily lags or doesn't recognize the plugin, or I can finally get to recording something decent, but the sound comes out really low even if the volume settings and db are high enough in Komplete Kontrol. Plug in my headphones instead of using Bluetooth? You got it. Shut down all other programs while using Cubase? Sure. My computer's soundcard is generic, but I thought I could deal with it. I installed the programs, I installed 300gb of plugins on one of my extra 1TB drives and made sure the folders were consistent, I ran Komplete Kontrol once in standalone, I got ASIO4ALL, I made sure the correct input/output boxes were ticked. I did everything by the manual on my Core i7-9700 gaming rig. Instead, I went through hours of troubleshooting guides on here, the Native Instruments website and even some antiquated-looking message boards and I've just about given up. I went with Cubase because they have their #stayathome campaign, and all the Youtube tutorial videos made it look so easy to do-just hook everything up and have at it.
I had a 5-day national holiday last week so I wanted to spend the time setting up a Komplete Kontrol keyboard and learning how to use a DAW, but it feels like I wasted my entire vacation.
